SIR INTEGRAL FAIRBROOK WINGATES HELLSING

Integra Hellsing
Sir Integral Hellsing In the OVA

Director of the Hellsing Organization, daughter of Arthur Hellsing, and thus a direct descendent of the legendary Abraham Van Helsing. Integra appears as the series’ prime heroine whose role is to protect England and it’s people from the unsuspecting horrors of the vampiric and occult threats that her forefathers have fought against centuries past. Under her direct command, the Hellsing family’s greatest biological weapon is the Vampire Alucard whom answers to her and her alone. Integra appears as a strong and firm commander, sending Alucard and Seras into battle regularly to battle the forces for which she is to fight. Integra is not presented as a perfect character however, and has regularly been tested to her limits, sometimes showing uncertainty in herself and her actions, like during the incident in Rio. Integra is among the only characters who is present and active during most all major incidents in the story, from her indirect involvement near the beginning, to her fully hands-on actions from later on.

The following Section will discuss Integra, her history, her story and her character traits in detail. Spoilers will be hidden, and must be clicked on to reveal them.

Integra in 1988

Integra was born into the Hellsing family to her father Arthur Hellsing, who loved and cherished his daughter all his life. As soon as Integra was old enough, Arthur taught her everything he knew about Vampires and their extermination, honing her for when she would one day take over the organization. One of Arthur's most important bits of advice for his young daughter was that if she should ever find herself in a true crisis, to go to the forgotten dungeon at the bottom of Hellsing House. Therein would lie her protection.

Arthur's passing was Difficult on Integra, who was still a teenage girl at the time. To be alone to grieve, Integra crawled into the air ducts of the mansion where she bawled her eyes out. Luck would show it's head however, as her place of grieving let her evesdrop in her uncle Richard's conversation, a plot to murder her. Heeding her fahter's words, Integra headed for the forgotten dungeon to find her savior, but was distraught to find when she arrived, there was nothing more than a dried up corpse, tied to the wall in bindings. When her uncle finally found her, all had seemed lost until a stray bullet from his gun hit Integra in the arm. It was only a flesh wound, but the damage caused a splatter of blood to hit the corpse, and to awaken it...

Revived, and hungry the corpse began to feed upon Richard's men, drinking their blood and revealing itself to be a true vampire! Curiously as well, the vampire then preceeded to bow before the young girl, proclaiming himself to be her Servant, and giving his name as "Alucard". With the Vampire backing her, Integra finished off her uncle and took her place as Hellsing's head.

After taking over, Integra wasn't exactly met with the warmest of receptions from everyone, including Sir Shelby Penwood having doubts as to whether "such a little girl" could take over the household on her own. Penwood was quick to see signs of her father within her however, and gained a bond with her, Integra vowing to come up with a request "Even more outrageous" than her father ever had. Using Alucard, Integra ran Hellsing properly for the next decade with Walter at her side.

During The Cheddar Incident

The status quo changed on July 5th when Integra dispatched her number one agent, Alucard to the sleepy villiage of Cheddar. It seems the Priest of the local chapel had become a vampire, and had teken over the villiage, killing all but a handful of the police officers sent in to quell the situation, and advancing on the final survivors. Alucard took care of the situation, however he arrived proclaiming the only apparent survivor, to be herself dead and now a vampire, much to Integra's dismay. At some point after that it was decided to make the new vampire, The "Police Girl" Seras Victora, a member of Hellsing.
