STORY INFORMATION
![]() The Dandyman |
Alhambra, like most of Millennium's soldiers, has very little known information about his activities before his first appearance in the story. What is known however, is that he is not a German as most of the rest of the group are. Alhambra is a Brazilian native who was most likely recruited by Millennium soon before the beginning of the story. As part of the plan, Alhambra gained some kind of power over the Rio Police force prior to the start of the story to use them as tools. After the battle with the Valentine Brothers, Hellsing was given a clue to the whereabouts of those pulling the strings behind the attack from the Vatican. They were told the enemy was in South America. Hellsing would need to cross an ocean to investigate the situation further.
The next day, Alucard, Seras, and Pip were dispatched to Rio De Janero, and Alhambra sprung into action. Alhambra immediately took it upon himself to mobilize the Rio Police force under the false pretense that Alucard and Seras were Terrorists staying in the local Hotel "Rio". That very night, a SWAT assault was launched on the building. (For more information on the SWAT Assault on the building, See the section for the Rio Police Force below) As the battle happened, Alhambra initially just sat back and relaxed, assuring the Police higher-ups that everything was going according to plan.
After Alucard had made short work of Alhambra's cronies, he tired of them, wishing for the main coarse. The Dandy Man obliged him and made his appearance at last. He introduced himself to the No-Life King, taunting him and revealing that the plan was to force Alucard to deplete as many of his silver-alloyed bullets as possible decimating his pawns, to give Alhambra a better chance of tearing into the Count himself. The endgame was intended to be to take Alucard in and make him one of Millennium's specimens. Without boring Alucard any further, Alhambra made the first move, attacking with his razor-sharp playing cards.
The Battle was fierce, with their stray attacks slicking through the civilian onlookers' body parts and equipment as though it were all butter. The battle continued to escalate with every attack until Alucard decided upon a change in venue. Using his vampiric powers, Alucard retreated by running up a building to the roof, giving him a moment to check his wounds. As Alhambra began to scale the building as well, he scoffed at his opponent, assuming that Alucard's retreat was out of fear. He confidently declared the "Great Vampire Alucard" to be "Nothing" as he honed in on him. Meanwhile, The Count was elated to find that those playing cards were wounding him in a way that he couldn't instantly heal from. The prospect of a difficult battle exciting him to no end.
As Alhambra finally caught up to Alucard on the top of the building he was met with unexpected laughter from the No-Life King. Alucard was unable to hide his extreme joy at the situation, immediately declaring that he was going to make Alhambra "Squeal like a Pig". The battle quickly heated back up, with Alucard releasing the restraints on his power before being mercilessly attacked by Alhambra's playing cards. Before Alhambra could regain his perceived dominance of the Count, he was knocked off balance as Seras joined the fight, firing upon him as he was attempting to tear apart Alucard.
Alhambra stove off Seras' attacks, slicking one of her Harkonnen bullets in half before focusing his attention back on Alucard himself. However, he was horrified to find the Count was no longer visible. Alucard was now hidden behind the fog. Alhambra continued his attack every time he caught a glimpse of Alucard, however he began to sweat as his attacks no longer seemed to be doing any lasting damage to the Count at all. As the battle went on, Alhambra's level of panic continued to raise, and the situation continued to escalate, he was suddenly caught off guard when Alucard made his move.
Instantly, and without warning, Alucard appeared beside his opponent, instantly breaking his leg with a swift kick. Alucard once again ordered the Dandy Man to squeal like a pig before making his last attack. Both vampires drove their arms forward, Alhambra holding one of his cards and Alucard with his un-assisted hand, clashing together. They both drove forward fiercely trying to win, however Alucard was the one to overpower his foe, wrenching his arm in twain with his bare hand right up to the shoulder before grabbing Alhambra's head into his hands. The No-Life King had won. Declaring his victory, Alucard then vowed to interrogate his bested foe by drinking his blood and taking his memories into himself. This gave Alucard the crucial information on Millennium just before Alhambra finally burst into flame, dying to the sounds of Alucard's thunderous applause.

Although dead, Alhambra was not gone. To interrogate him, Alucard took his soul into himself in order to have access to his memories. For this reason, Alhambra became a soul within Alucard, becoming his familiar. Much later, during the Battle for London, Integra unleashed Alucard's Control Art Restriction System to level Zero, giving Alucard his permission to release all the power within him, including the souls within himself. At this, Alhambra was freed, and began to carry out Integra's orders to obliterate all of Hellsing's enemies, tearing into his former allies with Millennium and the Vatican Crusaders alike. Alhambra can occasionally be spotted among Alucard's army, however beyond attacking, he is never seen doing anything else and has no more dialog.
At the very end of the manga as the battle comes to a close, there is a final shot of several elements of the battle. Alhambra is referenced in one of these shots as his playing cards are shown amongst the debris.
POWERS AND ABILITIES
![]() |
Like most of Millennium's forces, Tubalcain Alhambra employs his own unique special weapons and abilities not seen in any other character in the series.
Alhambra's major fighting ability is the use of his specialized weapons. Alhambra employs special razor-sharp playing cars, capable of slicing clean through a human being. During his battle with Alucard, the cards are seen decapitating several of the Rio onlookers with ease. Through unknown means, Alhambra also appears able to remotely control the cards beyond just throwing them, as when the fight begins he causes the cards to swirl around Alucard in a circular motion. It's apparent that the cards may originate from Alhambra himself, as he teleports, heals, and reforms his body in a flurry of cards.
Alucard comments during their fight that, the cards aren't normal, as he's unable to stop the bleeding from the wounds they cause, implying that the cards have some vampire-slaying qualities to them.
THE RIO POLICE FORCE
Alhambra's unwitting pawns, these men, called "Dogs" by Alucard, are a SWAT Team from the police force of Rio De Janero. Before they are first seen, Alhambra was already manipulating them behind the scenes. Alhambra had promised the entire Police force from the lower grunts to the higher-ups that he could make them all into immortal vampires. Also, as an added measure towards making the attack on Alucard work, they implicated Alucard and Seras as terrorists, citing the large amounts of weaponry at their disposal. Using this as an excuse, they prepared to mount an attack on Hotel Rio.
The SWAT Team mounted their first attack on the building in the middle of the night. The attack was well coordinated, with the building being evacuated of all other guests before entering. All floors were carefully secured before the men were set to move, with the main force crowding around Alucard's hotel room. The full attack began as they busted in on Alucard without much stealth or worry. They instantly found Alucard standing, seemingly unarmed, and followed their orders, shooting him to ribbons without asking questions first.
Initially it had seemed their mission was a success and that Alucard was dead, however they were shocked to hear the tattered corpse speak to them. It called them "Dogs". They didn't have much time to be startled however, as the body of the No-Life King rose from the ground like a phoenix out of its own ashes and began to tear into the SWAT Team with nothing but his teeth. The remaining men immediately began pissing themselves and bolted fro the door instantly but Alucard used his powers to lock it. As man after man fell to the count, it became apparent that none of them would make it out of there alive. As Alucard taunted the last man standing, he was deeply angered when he chose not to face Alucard, but instead to take the gun to his own head and pull the trigger.
Despite being angered at this, Alucard took a moment to call his Master Integra to alert her of the situation. He was elated at her orders; march out the front door, through the remaining SWAT Team members if they posed a threat. Search and Destroy!
Alucard immediately followed them, marching right into the next room, amidst the entire group of soldiers and instantly began to decimate them. Tearing into them with his guns, his teeth, and even his bare hands. He even took the time out to have a meal out of the dead as he moved through the hotel like a wave of death and destruction.
As Alucard marched, Integra, Walter, Anderson, and even the Major watched on, the Nazi Battalion Commander gleefully declaring these men as nothing but "Small sprinkles of water" dropped on the raging inferno that is Alucard's might. How right he was, as Alucard continued his assault. The remaining men attempted an escape down the elevator, but at the last minute, the Maniac Count used mind control to force one of the men to press the "Open Doors" button on the elevator. Despite the other men resorting to shooting him to get his hand off the button, this kept the door ajar long enough for Alucard to catch it before it closed all the way, wrenching it open with his guns. He took a moment to congratulate them on their hard work, before silencing them all. As his answer to the Major's war declaration, Alucard finished his massacre by throwing the bodies of the downed SWAT team out the windows of the hotel, impaling each of them on the flagpoles decorating the walkway.
As the No-Life King took the time to play with the pawns of the police force, the Higher-ups sat back in a tent. As the situation turned bad for them, they began to panic. As Alucard exited the building, he began to fight Alhambra, worrying the police leaders further, as Alhambra's death would mean they wouldn't get the prize of immortality they wanted from Millennium's agent. As they contemplated their situation however, they did not have the time to voice their concerns as Wild Geese Captain Pip Bernadotte, disguised as one of their own entered the tent. He made short work of the men, shooting them all in the head and blowing the tent up with a block of C4. Pip can later be seen in a helicopter stolen from the Rio Police.

Because he drank of them all, the Rio SWAT Team had all of their souls taken within Alucard. During the events of the Battle of London, they are let out to attack Millennium along with Tubalcain Alhambra.
